The Department of the Attorney General, through the Office of Native Title, is responsible for the implementation of the State Goverment's native title policy. Where possible, the Office tries to resolve all native title matters in Western Australia by agreement.

The Office represents the State's interests in every native title determination application over land and water, and takes the lead in the negotiation and implementation of major projects on land under native title claim.
